An RC truck scale size chart shows how big a model is at each scale: divide every real dimension by the scale denominator, so at 1/10 a real length becomes one tenth as long. Enter the real truck’s length, width and height below to get exact model sizes for every scale from 1/6 to 1/24.
How to use the RC truck scale size converter
- Choose Real size โ model size to convert a full-size truck, or Model length โ implied scale to check a model you already have.
- Pick the unit you are measuring in (mm, cm, m, in or ft). Changing the unit later recalculates without clearing your numbers.
- Enter the real length, width and height. Take these from the real vehicle’s specification sheet.
- Enter the scale as a whole number from 6 to 24 (for 1/10, type 10).
- Optional: hold a ruler against the black reference bar and type its measured length in millimeters. This calibrates the outline so it is drawn at true size on your screen. Leave the field blank to use an approximate outline; a zero, negative or non-numeric measurement is rejected with a message.
- Press Calculate. You get the model’s length, width and height in millimeters and inches, a full size chart for every scale from 1/6 to 1/24, and side and top outlines.
- Use Copy results to paste the numbers into a note or message as plain text.
If the outline is wider than your screen, either scroll sideways or choose Fit to screen. A fitted outline is clearly labeled “NOT actual size” because it has been shrunk to fit.
The formula behind RC scale sizes
Scale is the ratio of any linear dimension of a model to the same dimension on the full-size subject. A scale written 1/N (or 1:N) means the model is N times smaller in every straight-line measurement, so:
- Model size = real size รท N
- Implied scale N = real length รท model length (both in the same unit)
- Inches = millimeters รท 25.4, because 1 inch is exactly 25.4 mm
Before dividing, the tool converts every input to millimeters: centimeters ร10, meters ร1000, inches ร25.4 and feet ร304.8. It keeps full precision internally and only rounds for display, to 1 decimal place in millimeters and 2 in inches. If a very small result would round to zero, it shows extra decimals instead.
The table below uses example numbers, not a real vehicle: a length of 1000 mm.
| Scale | Calculation | Model length (mm) | Model length (in) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1/6 | 1000 รท 6 | 166.7 | 6.56 |
| 1/8 | 1000 รท 8 | 125.0 | 4.92 |
| 1/10 | 1000 รท 10 | 100.0 | 3.94 |
| 1/16 | 1000 รท 16 | 62.5 | 2.46 |
| 1/24 | 1000 รท 24 | 41.7 | 1.64 |
Reverse mode runs the same formula backward. With example numbers of 1000 mm real and 100 mm model, 1000 รท 100 = 10, so the numbers imply 1:10. The tool always shows the result as “about 1:X” to one decimal place, and adds the whole-number scale only when the result is within 0.05 of an integer. The result is the scale implied by the numbers you entered, not a statement about any product’s official scale.
Reading an RC truck size chart: 1/10 vs 1:10 and what the numbers mean
An RC truck size chart is simply the same real dimensions divided by a range of scale denominators. That is why this converter generates the chart from your own numbers instead of printing a fixed one: published charts can’t know which real truck you have in mind, but the division works for any vehicle you can measure or look up.
The notations 1/10 and 1:10 mean exactly the same thing. Both say the model is one tenth the size of the real vehicle in length, width and height. Because N is how many times smaller the model is, a larger denominator means a smaller model: a 1/24 model is a quarter the length of a 1/6 model of the same truck, since 24 is four times 6.
Scale applies to straight-line measurements only. The chart lists length, width and height separately so you can compare footprint and profile at each scale.
1:6 RC truck size
At 1:6, each model dimension is the real dimension divided by 6, which makes it the largest scale this converter covers. Open the converter with 1:6 pre-selected, then enter the real truck’s dimensions to see its 1:6 length, width and height alongside every other scale.
Where to find real truck dimensions
Use the manufacturer’s official specification sheet or owner’s documentation for the real vehicle, and note whether the figures are overall length, width with or without mirrors, and height with or without accessories. This page deliberately lists no vehicle dimensions; the converter uses only the values you enter.
Methodology & sources
No external dataset is used. Calculations use the values you enter and the definition of 1 inch as exactly 25.4 mm. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere, and the calculation runs entirely in your browser. The on-screen outline starts from the CSS reference of 96 pixels per inch, but CSS pixels do not match physical size on every device, so the uncalibrated outline is labeled approximate. Measuring the reference bar replaces that default with your screen’s own pixels-per-millimeter (the bar’s pixel width divided by the millimeters you measured).
- Wikipedia: Inch โ 1 inch is exactly 25.4 mm.
- Wikipedia: Foot (unit) โ 1 foot is exactly 0.3048 m (304.8 mm).
- Wikipedia: Scale model โ scale as the ratio of a model’s linear dimension to the full-size subject.
- W3C CSS Values and Units Module Level 3 โ 96 CSS px per inch, used only as the uncalibrated default.
Size figures here are for general comparison only and are not safety, fit or suitability advice. Always follow the manufacturer’s manual, age guidance and battery/charging instructions for any RC model.

FAQ
How do I work out the size of an RC truck at a given scale?
Divide each real dimension by the scale denominator. At 1/10 scale, a real length of 1000 mm becomes 100 mm on the model.
Is 1/10 the same as 1:10?
Yes. Both notations mean the model is one tenth the size of the real vehicle in every linear dimension.
Why is a 1/24 model smaller than a 1/6 model?
The denominator is how many times smaller the model is. Dividing by 24 gives a smaller result than dividing by 6, so a larger denominator means a smaller model.
How do I find the scale of a model I already have?
Use reverse mode: enter the real vehicle’s length and the model’s length. The tool divides real by model and shows the scale implied by the numbers you entered.
Is the on-screen outline exactly life size?
Only after you calibrate it. Measure the reference bar with a ruler and enter its length in mm; without calibration the outline is approximate because screen pixels vary between devices.
