A Bluetooth RC car app only works with the hardware it was built for: Traxxas Link needs a TQi radio with the Link Wireless Module, and Spektrum Dashboard needs a DX3 Smart transmitter and Bluetooth module. Use the finder below to match control apps, ESC programming software and design tools to your brand and platform.

How to use the RC Apps & Software Finder

  1. Choose what you want to do. “Control my car” shows phone apps for driving or telemetry, “Program an ESC or radio” shows setup software, and “Design parts or bodies” shows CAD, 3D modeling and slicer software.
  2. Pick your platform. iOS/iPadOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux or a web browser.
  3. Set a price filter if you like. Every verified entry is either free to download or a vendor download with no price shown; no paid apps are listed.
  4. Narrow by connection type. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or a USB programming link, which tells you which adapter you will need.
  5. Type your hardware brand (optional). For example “Rhino”, “Castle” or “Traxxas”. If no official tool was confirmed for that brand, the finder says “no official software found” instead of guessing.

Each result card shows the developer, what hardware it works with, the adapter or module it needs, platforms, price and links to the official store or vendor page, plus the date the listing was last checked.

How the finder picks matches

There is no formula here; it is a filter over a hand-checked list. An entry is shown only if it passes every filter you set: it belongs to the chosen purpose, it runs on the chosen platform, its price matches, it uses the chosen connection, and one of its brand names matches what you typed. Brand matching ignores capitals, spaces and punctuation, so “Rhino RC”, “rhinorc” and “Rhino” all find the same tool.

The table shows a few example searches and what they return.

Bluetooth RC car apps, Rhino RC ESC software and RC car design software

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi apps for driving and telemetry

Most hobby-grade RC cars are driven with a regular transmitter, and the Traxxas and Spektrum apps work alongside that radio rather than replacing it. Traxxas Link connects over Bluetooth to next-generation TQi radio systems and is designed for use with the Traxxas Link Wireless Module. Spektrum Dashboard shows speed, temperature and voltage, and its App Store listing requires a DX3 Smart transmitter plus the SPMBT2000 Bluetooth module; we found no Android version. LEGO Technic CONTROL+ drives only LEGO CONTROL+ models. If you are building your own car on an Arduino or ESP32 board, Dabble works as a Bluetooth controller app for it.

Rhino RC ESC software and other ESC programmers

RhinoRC publishes official ESC software on its Files page: the RhinoESC ConfigTool (version 1.98) and a “ConfigTool and Driver” package. It is a Windows tool; the Rhino ESC manual says to install the USB-Link driver and then connect with a USB Type-C cable. Rhino ESCs run AM32 firmware, and the manual refers to reversing motor direction in the AM32 Config Tool. The open-source AM32 ESC Config Tool itself is available for Windows, macOS and Linux for AM32-based ESCs.

Other brands use their own link hardware. Hobbywing’s HW Link V2 programs XERUN and EZRUN car ESCs over Wi-Fi through the HW WiFi Express module or OTA Programmer. Castle Creations offers Castle Link 2 for Windows 10 and 11 with a Castle Link adapter, and the CastleLink2 phone app with the B-Link Bluetooth adapter. Tekin’s HotWire app needs the HotWire 3.0 (TT1452) device. For transmitters running EdgeTX, EdgeTX Companion handles model setup on a computer.

RC car design software for bodies and parts

For brackets, battery trays and other chassis parts, a CAD program is the usual starting point: FreeCAD is a parametric CAD program for Windows, macOS and Linux, Tinkercad runs in a browser, and Onshape runs in a browser and on mobile with a free sign-up. Blender suits freeform shapes such as body concepts and paint mockups. To print the result, load it into a slicer such as UltiMaker Cura, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer or Bambu Studio. Bambu Handy lets you control Bambu Lab printers remotely from your phone, and the Autodesk Fusion mobile app works alongside a Fusion desktop account.

Methodology & sources

Every entry was checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources only: Apple App Store listings (US), Google Play listings (US), manufacturer websites and manuals, and official GitHub release pages for open-source projects. Prices are the store or vendor price to download; “in-app purchases” is noted where Google Play flags it. Third-party apps from unknown developers were left out, as were tools we could not confirm, including a Spektrum Smart ESC programmer app, official Futaba, FlySky or RadioMaster apps, Autodesk Fusion desktop pricing and Onshape plan pricing.

FAQ

Is there an official Bluetooth RC car app?

Yes, for some systems. Traxxas Link works with Traxxas TQi radios through the Traxxas Link Wireless Module, Spektrum Dashboard (iOS only) needs a DX3 Smart transmitter and the SPMBT2000 Bluetooth module, and LEGO Technic CONTROL+ runs LEGO CONTROL+ models. For DIY Arduino or ESP32 cars, Dabble works as a Bluetooth controller.

Does Rhino ESC have official programming software?

Yes. RhinoRC lists the RhinoESC ConfigTool (version 1.98) and a ConfigTool and Driver package on its Files page. It is a Windows tool that uses the USB-Link driver and a USB Type-C cable, and Rhino ESCs run AM32 firmware.

What software can I use to design RC car parts or bodies?

Free options include FreeCAD and Tinkercad for CAD and Blender for 3D modeling and body mockups. Onshape is another CAD option; its mobile app is free to download and requires an account, but its plan pricing was not verified. To 3D-print the parts, use a slicer such as UltiMaker Cura, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer or Bambu Studio.

Do I need extra hardware to program an ESC from my phone?

Usually yes. Hobbywing HW Link V2 needs the HW WiFi Express module or OTA Programmer, CastleLink2 needs Castle’s B-Link Bluetooth adapter, and Tekin’s HotWire app needs the HotWire 3.0 (TT1452) device.

Why does the finder say “no official software found” for my brand?

The finder lists only tools we could confirm from official developer or manufacturer sources. If a brand is not listed, check the manufacturer’s own website or manual rather than installing an unknown third-party app.
